Jordy Smith Hops In The Bin
An air into a dumpster, a persuasive Italian yoga instructor and a few hard-hitting facts.
Okay, so maybe you’ve been bombarded with environmentalist spiels from your 2nd favourite surf media portal (behind Riptide magazine) over the past few days; but when you have Jordy Smith, a highly convincing yoga instructor, floating dumpsters and one overtly excited Zaffa, it’s hard not to post.
Dan Mace and the people at “Let’s Talk Trash” decided there was no better method to alert the masses about the issues surrounding waste disposal than launching Mr. Smith board first into a floating trash can.
It isn’t all fun and games though, there’s also some hard hitting facts:
“There’s an island of garbage, twice the size of Texas, sitting in the Pacific Ocean”
“There are 25 trillion pieces of plastic debris floating in the ocean”
But instead of reading this transcription, it’s much more convincing if you listen to these sentences from the lips of the Italian yoga instructor above.
If these combination of facts, physical contortion and surfing has you excited to shift your waste habits, then you can head on over to http://letstalktrash.co.za. Here you can share your opportunistic ideas for changes around human waste disposal and the best idea will be adopted as the next initiative by Let’s Talk Trash.
And if you don’t care about waste issues, then take solace in the fact that you’ve just witnessed the best South African surfer launch himself into a aquatically suspended, oversized dumpster.
