John Florence: 9 Waves x 300 FPS
Pencils out.
Here at Stab, the general rule is that slo-mo = no go.
Due to their poor performance on our social channels, big* boss Mikey C. has taught me to stray away from slow-mo clips. He’s also taught me that there are exceptions to every rule, and if John Florence isn’t the exception, then we might as well remove any and all tools for speed adjustment from your favorite filmer’s computer.
Whether or not John has been reading GQ is up for discussion, but it’s clear that his finger is firmly on the pulse of the fashion’s current monochromatic trend. I actually hope that this isn’t an aesthetically-minded maneuver, but rather a signal that John is out for blood. In fact, I’ll go so far as to say it is. You may be able to look past a red boardies/rashie/leash and board (deck, as the bottom is adorned in black Dark Arts carbon) but can you really look past a slo-mo edit where John is mercilessly flexing his technique in small waves before two small-wave tour stops?
The answer: no. If the above is any indication (and with WA to follow) are we about to witness one of the most dominant tour legs in recent memory?
Watch above and decide for yourself… Florence Marine X has quite literally never looked so good.
