Is This The Best 8-Year-Old Surfer… Ever?
Ale Dotti will make you reconsider your hobby.
Alessandro Dotti got his first surfboard at three. Goofy by nature, as most toddlers are, he switched to regular, because statistically it gives you slightly better odds of winning multiple world titles.
Born in Bali to Italian parents, Ale has a penchant for waves like Keramas, Bingin, Canggu, and even HT’s. Yallingup, where he won the Under 12 division at Taj’s Small Fries, also holds a special place in his little heart.
His quiver ranges from 4’6″ grovelers to 4’8″ step-ups, courtesy of CI, meaning he’s still exempt from airline boardbag fees. “What’s in the child’s bag, sir?” “Oh, just a boogie board.”
You’ve seen eight-year-olds stinkbug their way into pro contracts before, but the assuredness, maturity, and wave-reading on display here is just jaw-dropping.
Cute. But terrifying.
