If Caity Simmers Started A Cult Would You Join?
Watch her latest film ‘Blouse’ to feel religion.
“Nothing is ever certain. It’s all temporary. We just have to love it while it’s here and let it go when it’s gone,” a philosopher once said about the impermanence of life.
Navigating through the haze of adolescence can feel disorienting — especially for a 19-year-old whose world (or at least place on the planet) switches every month. Our 2024 World Champion celebrates her coming-of-age in Blouse.

“Growing up, I was always very tomboyish — I was often mistaken for a boy,” Caity says. “I was into sports, not princesses or that kind of thing. Lately, I’ve been more interested in feminine things than I usually am. The title Blouse felt fitting to me because it’s such a feminine word. It makes me think of a cute shirt on a woman.”

From Hanaja Pua’s bold abstraction, to sensual rock structures, to lesbian acappella groups, to her boyfriend’s cameo — the 20-minute film represents the current era of Ms. Caitlin. You can read more about what that era entails HERE.
“So colors are cool now? No more black rails?” We teased.

“No, I think being your own individual and following the things you enjoy is cool. I hope I reflect that upon the next generation, because the surf world could use more individualism. Like I think Jalessa [Vincent] is saving the industry, her film made me want to surf and create things.”
