Hoyo Hits All The Right Power Chords
Because you can’t stop Matt Hoy.
“I don’t see why there should be a point where everyone decides you’re too old. I’m not too old, and until I decide I’m too old I’ll never be too fucking old.” – Lemmy
If Lemmy Kilmister was a surfer he would have been Matt Hoy.
With zero fucks given, for his 48 years on this planet, Hoyo’s been having a ball. And he’s still rocking. He’s still got the tube sense of a younger, more spry metalhead, and the power in his rails is like the thunder of the gods.
Raised on the Aussie pro surfing farm, he did the pro junior thing before ascending to be a Top 5 surfer on tour by the mid-’90s. But conformity’s never really been his cup of tea. He’s more into shotgunning hollow ledges. So, with his iron crosses and pentagrams, that what he’s spent the last couple of decades doing. Still ripping as hard as ever today, he maintains a Quik sticker on his nose and is the boss for the traction company Dreded, which is in the pit with mulleted hesion Mikey Wright.
Hoyo just dropped a new edit, “Homeland.” And like a cold Victoria Bitter, it hits all the right notes.
