How John dusted his ankle

As we all know, John John Florence is out of the Quiksilver Pro with an ankle injury. This little Hurley tour notes clip takes you through it. We’ll see you at Bells, Mr Florence… Everyone is bummed, except for Adam Melling who advanced to round 4 quite comfortably. We had young Johnny tagged as our danger man, along with Jordy, and we managed to edge in for a few words with him pre-accident. Interview by Craig Jarvis. On winning his first heat of the first event of the year: Yeah that was good. Felt good to win my first WCT heat of the year. On media pressure: I just don’t think about it too much. Just go surf, you know. I just have so much fun surfing so I just kinda stick to that. I’m happy to talk to everyone and have people take pictures and all of that. On the whole people are pretty cool, you know. On which events he’s looking forward to in 2013: Pipe. I’m looking forward to Pipe. Fiji and Chopes, too. All the barrel waves. Lowers is always fun too. On been labeled a future world champion: I just try not to think about it you now. Don’t want to get a big head and get a head of myself, I don’t want to be paddling out in a heat and thinking about too many things rather than just surfing. Who knows if I’m ever going to get a world title? On Slater: Kelly is not even human. You learn so much from watching him surf. He has every wave on the world tour totally wired. More wired than anyone else in the world. On Jordy: I love Jordy’s surfing. He’s such a good surfer. He could win a world title any year he feels like it as long as he puts his mind to it. It’s just a matter of him, you know, doing it.
