Oh man, if our ol pal Andy Irons was still around, he would take delight in this video: Mr Kelly Slater smashing his board after losing in round three at the Rip Curl Pro in Portugal upon news is out of the world title race. Turns out he isn’t but the board cops a hiding nonetheless. In defence of Mr Slater, who almost never loses his cool, the board was already creased. And, he quickly reset and took on a beach interview with Rosy Hodge and gave the scrap foam to kids on the beach. “I thought I was out so I broke my board into three pieces and gave it away,” said KS. “I have a friend who is a rockstar… and we break our guitars so you’ve gotta break your surfboard.”
