Genuinely Pumping Mundaka, Or Actors On A Green Screen?
Not even sure if this place is real.
Mundaka is (allegedly) located in Northern Spain and home to one of the best left-hand point breaks in the world (allegedly). When a big swell arrives, the pulse unloads itself on the immaculately formed sandbar. Those lucky enough to catch Mundaka on a good day, like Aritz Aranburu in the video above, are in for a treat. Considering the length of the average ride and sheer hollowness of the wave, the term “leg burners” seems appropriate.
While Google Maps might suggest Mundaka is located in Basque Country, I beg to differ. I firmly believe Mundaka is a made-up fantasy land. The people watching from the Harbor Wall are paid actors. The inexplicable sets are just pre-recorded videos, projected onto the world’s largest green screen. Watch as Aritz Aranburu photoshops himself deep into one of mother nature’s sweetest delights.
