Gabriel Medina Gifts Kelly Slater The Strawberry Of Love

Kelly Slater has found himself injury-free and back on Brazilian soil, appearing at Expert XP, an investor conference in São Paulo.

The spiritual sherpa of the surf-industrial complex took a break from the financial fair, where investors gather to hear other investors say things like “synergy,” “disrupt,” and a lot of “you knows,” to link up with Gabriel Medina for a semi-clandestine session at a soon-to-open wave pool.

Beyond – The Club is a Wavegarden-powered mirage in the biggest city in South America. Medina is a partner at KSM Realty, the developer behind the project.

“Let’s see if baldie can still get barreled,” Medina quips to his cameraman. “Is he deserving of the strawberry of love?” he adds, possibly in jest.

The Stab in the Dark X star danced for his supper with a display of chlorinated precision that would embarrass many half his age. Tubes into oops, seamless 360s, and a massive frontside air that we’ll just have to assume he stomped in the flats.

In addition to excessively sweet treats, Slater was anointed guest of honor at the pool and the yet-to-open adjacent hotel. A fitting tribute to surfing’s original inland prophet.

Oh, and did we see Medina on a Channel Islands? Certainly looked like a Better Everyday…
