When France Is Good, It’s Great
Joan Duru and friends indulge in Planet Earth’s recent swell hot streak.
Hossegor’s latitude is roughly that of Canada’s Nova Scotia region.
Meaning, it gets cold. Very cold. Currently, Hossegor’s air temperature is a chilled 47 degrees Fahrenheit (8 C) and its water temperature is sitting near 55 degrees (13 C).
But, similar to other regions like California, Hawaii, and New York, France gets its best surf in the late fall and winter seasons. You’ll see that in full display above.
The best clip (arguably) of the edit goes to Joan Duru, who’s had quite the breakout 2024 — competing for Team France at the Olympics and taking a fifth-place finish as a wildcard at the Portugal CT, only losing out to eventual event champ Griffin Colapinto.
Joan is joined by a cadre of Euro friends, including Kyllian Guerin who starred in last year’s Stab Highway Europe Presented by Monster Energy.
Speaking of Europe and Stab Highway, you can watch the whole season here right now.
And we’ll see you in a few weeks for the latest Stab Highway season, this time on the US East Coast, and as always, presented by Monster Energy.
