America’s East Coast Finally Has An Answer To “The Artist Formerly Known As 2 Percent”
Erratic Nerve’s latest edit is salt in California’s flat-spell wound.
In 2021, Micha Cantor lost his sponsors of eight years and suffered an ankle injury that kept him out of the water for months.
Like it does for so many, Micha’s dream of relying on surfing for his sustenance came to a close. He, instead, scaled up hours working with his dad on their screen printing business and saved up cash to continue going on trips and filming.
Last year, he put out his first full edit since being dropped by his sponsor — “Stick In Da Mud” — his veritable coming-of-age as a semi-pro, hardworking adult. You can read our interview with Micha on this edit here if you’re so inclined.
To not end up “in the red” on these trips, Micha also started a media company, “Erratic Nerve”, to document his friends in and around his home state of South Carolina who surf seriously well with little to no exposure to the outside surfing world from their East Coast hamlet.

“I was inspired by what Chapter 11 TV and 2 Percent [now “Steko”] were doing out on the West Coast,” Micha told Stab. “There’s nothing really like that on the East Coast and I wanted a way to show my friends who rip and don’t have the same exposure to sponsors like kids on the West Coast.”
The latest fruit of Micha’s entrepreneurial outreach is the edit above, “Bom Vino” — a 9-minute escapade through transcendentally fun-looking Portugal with Micha’s hometown hero, Cam Richards.
“I was shooting archery in my backyard when Cam Richards came over and asked if I wanted to come to Portugal with him” — try to imagine Micha’s southern drawl here. “I said, ‘yup, I got the funds’ and it worked out great because we actually premiered the edit alongside a Stab Highway episode in South Carolina and it went so well. We had such a great turnout.”
And how did Micha and Cam get so lucky with that good of surf in Portugal?
“We had a few locals that were super welcoming to us and showed us around,” Micha explained. “What helped us score was timing it on the lowest tide possible, what the majority of the crowd considered to be too low. We just got lucky, 10 days of pumping surf. I was surfed out after a few days but Cam is such a robot he just kept pushing me to surf as much as possible every single day.”
So, what’s next for Erratic Nerve?
“I’ve got some projects lined up for the rest of the year, I really want to do a film on Bo Raynor from the Outer Banks about his life and career, and Brad Flora as well. These guys are world-class surfers and just really good people who just haven’t gotten the opportunity to be seen as much. I’m hoping we can do that with Erratic Nerve.”
