Do Chest High Waves Get More Fun Than This?

Named after an heiress who once owned 8,000 acres of oil rich land in the mountains that loom above the Santa Barbara channel, Emma Wood State Beach sits under an overpass at the entrance to Ventura proper.

Thanks to the quirky shelf of reef that sits a few hundred feet from land, the shorebreak at Emma Wood is often crossed up and wedgy — and has been the venue for literally hundreds of Dane Reynolds’ aerial endeavors.

Rarely, however, does the wave get as circular as it appears in the above Ch11 edit.

Filmed on a day when Dane Reynolds, Parker Coffin, Dmitri Poulos, Josiah Amico, Micky Clarke, Jake Kelly, and a handful of others were harvesting footage, you’ll be hard pressed to find more enticing Emma Wood clips.

And, for the love of heavy-back feet and handlebar moustaches, somebody, please, put a sticker on Dmitri’s nose.
