We’re back, and we’re posted up, capturing every notable wave ridden in the peripherals of the 2017 Quiksilver Pro, Gold Coast. Stab and Corona believe that often, the best action happens around a world tour event, and it pleases us to capture it. While the debut heat is yet to go live, the 34 have been lighting up every bank in the area. In episode one, we focus on Snapper, where we see the return of Owen Wright and Mick Fanning; Julian Wilson looking as lethal as he did in his latest edit; Jordy Smith as manhandling as ever; Leo Fioravanti making his presence known; Ace Buchan stomping some very energetic backside floaters, and more.

Stab just shared a ride with Matt Hoy from Coolangatta airport, and asked Hoyo who he’s putting money on. “Mick Fanning! I reckon he’s come back with a vengeance. He’ll go, ‘Y’know what, if I’m doing this, I’m doing it right. If I’m doing it, then cop this!’ After taking a year to sort himself out, and he would’ve been watching the events he missed last year on TV thinking, ‘I’d have this covered,’ and then he went to J-Bay and proved it. He’s gonna smash it.”

Mick is certainly looking sharp, as the almost-made turn at 1:58 suggests.

Keep it locked for frequent transmissions from Stab and Corona’s Gold Coast documentation. Welcome to Beach Chair. It’s good to be back.
