Come For The Novelty, Stay For Performance
Mikey February crashes Dylan Graves’ birthday wedge party in Puerto Rico.
One can’t help but hold a lingering sense of suspicion when a seasoned comedy actor takes on a serious role. Even if they nail the part, it remains hard to rub off the accumulated goofiness from their gritty, nuanced performance.
For the past few years, Dylan Graves has been synonymous with tidal bores, boat wakes, acid drops off slippery breakwalls, and going to whatever lengths a landlocked surf-starved junkie would to get their fix. Those who live/eat/breathe surf are aware of Dyl’s elite pedigree, but to the uninitiated vlog subscriber, it may come as a surprise that he can hang with freesurfing’s best.
In his new edit, the former CT wildcard heads home to Puerto Rico, an island so great that it had this guy speaking in tongues. With Mikey February and family in tow, the pair end up surfing a rare, uncrowded, albeit glorified closeout, somehow still making it look fun before heading out to a very photogenic reef wedge for a one-of-a-kind birthday celebration.
Dylan is joined by his brother, and the trio unwraps gift after unpredictably shaped gift at a private swell refraction party, before clinking beers and Gasolinas on dry land. With warm water and such an idyllic backdrop, this fun oddity of a wave could easily tint the water of a lavish Middle Eastern wave pool green with envy.

As a bonus, we’re tipped off that Mikey February has a film project in the works. Given Puerto Rico’s significant role in catapulting musical genres such as salsa, bachata, and reggaeton beyond its shores, we can only hope Mikey’s working on a new chapter for his Sonic Souvenirs catalog.
Happy belated birthday, Dylan!
