Cast Your Gaze To Matt Kleiner’s Seductive Showreel
It’s got nature, beauty, and just enough surfing to whet our palette.
Making a showreel from a year of footage must be a terribly arduous task. As a professional filmer, you probably capture between 100 and 300 hours of footage over a 365-day period, but to make a year-in-review film you’ve gotta cut that down to 2-3 minutes of A++++ material. Think of all the hard drives. Think of all the internal debating. And how in Jah’s name do you pick a song?!
Ugh.
But here we are in early-2018, and still the former year’s showreels are being rolled out by our favorite surf cinematographers. We’ve posted a fair few on our site (including one this morning), but it’s because they’re all so damn good! With the advent of RED cameras, POV footage and drones, we’re in a Golden Era of surf cinematography, so why not revel in our own good fortune?
