Fightland is the Vice network’s MMA channel, and recently the crew spent some time on Kauai with Dustin Barca. As you should be well aware, Dustin’s leading a fight on his home island – and the rest of Hawaii – to curb, and eventually extinguish, the presence of Monsanto and their testing and use of GMO-assisting chemicals in surfing’s mecca. Since retiring from professional surfing, Dustin’s been fighting in the cage and on the streets – the latter of which has proven to be far more challenging. Not content to stand by while his home is infected and deteriorated, Dustin’s even running for mayor of Kauai, along with regular protests and rallying against those most unwelcome visitors; Monsanto. This is a more in-depth look at Dustin’s life right now, and a very insightful one.
