A Young New Zealander Who Surfs Very Well

Elliot Paerata-Reid (or EPR) goes large in his latest edit, ‘MEKE’.

Many a videos land in our inbox labelled with lesser known names, and to be honest, it’s hard to filter through the shit. We’re glad though that this one from Elliot Paerata-Reid snuck through the cracks.

It came into my inbox courtesy of Mick Cain, Noa Deane’s family friend and manager, and when Mick drops us a clip, we know it’s worthy.

To be honest, I hadn’t heard of Elliot (known to Aussie’s as EPR, due to the difficult pronunciation of his last name), but was presently surprised by the following three-and-a-bit minutes of viewing.

EPR is from Piha in New Zealand, he’s 22 years old, and between giving the CT an on-and-off crack, he lucked into several swells over 2018 and early 2019. MEKE, as the clip is titled, are his highlights from the months that have most recently passed.

It’s a good clip from an evidently good surfer, and with the current influx of Cyclone Oma overload, a pleasant break that reminds us that there are waves in places other than the Gold Coast.

In saying that, Elliot just moved to the Goldy, so expect his next video showing to feature several reels from this recent swell.
