A Filipe Toledo Hawaii Clip Without A Single Reverted Air
Full rotations only!
It’s no secret that Filipe Toledo is an absolute weapon in the small, rampy stuff. But rather than further perfecting his tried and true craft in the unseasonably small conditions that plagued his newly-acquired California home this winter, Filipe hopped on a flight to Hawaii in early November, with a return ticket stamped for 2017. In for the long haul, Filipe took advantage of the islands’ vast array of consistent, overhead surf, expanding his signature bag of tricks and adapting it to a plethora of conditions. Like the accompanying Joy Division soundtrack, it’s a little bit of something you think you’ve seen before, but then is an intense slap across the face of riveting material you don’t expect, like power turns or solid barrels. Most importantly: The reverted air-reverse is dead. Long live the full rotation.
