A Brief Meditation On Water
Watch ‘Boundless Waters’ by Mystic.

Surfing is watching the same edit for the 612th time. It is shaking up a can of spray paint and defiling a glossy new board. It is ordering a beef stroganoff for lunch — creating a dismay in everyone around you, even the server — on a hot, sweaty afternoon following a long morning of summer swell.
It is also beautiful. This is a fact we’re all aware of, but it tends to hang back in the shadows of our minds.
Shall we hit it with a bit of light?
Water is fascinating. If you don’t drink it for three days, you die. Often, radiation from the sun creates imbalances in our atmosphere, which causes wind, which injects energy into the water, which organizes itself in a remarkable way, and does even more remarkable things when it finds some land.

Pretty cool, no?
Mystic just dropped a short film called ‘Boundless Waters.’ It serves as a brief meditation on water, includes footage from Morgan Maassen, and features individuals (including Caio Ibelli and Freddie Meadows) who derive meaning from interacting with water in its many moods — just like you, even if their boards look different.
Watch it above, then closely watch the surface of the water next time you’re waiting for a wave. It’s prettier than you’d think.
