Yago Dora On Surfing Without A Sticker, His Unique Father-Son Relationship & The 2025 World Title
Our Stab Interview with the Rip Curl Portugal Pro champ.
Last week, I hit Yago Dora up for an interview, and he quickly agreed.
The Rip Curl Pro Portugal was looking at a string of lay days — many of which featured objectively atrocious waves and weather — and I figured he might want to tick that box while there was plenty of downtime.
However, he kept pushing time and day back until it was Saturday morning. He then texted me: “Let’s do it on Monday? After the comp.”
Originally, I wanted to speak with him about the disappearance and re-appearance of the Volcom sticker from the pointy end of his Mayhems (and use it as an excuse to segue into a mix of other topics, because Yago Dora is the fucking man).
When Monday rolled around, Yago had given me a fairly obvious new reason to chat — and it turns out that was his plan all along.
