Surfers, for the most part, still despised anything that might be perceived as either athletic or elite. The brand’s failed attempt at making aqua socks a thing didn’t help its street cred. 

Some folks say that money can solve all problems. However, anyone who has committed to that approach can tell you where and how it falls short. 

You can double a surfer’s next best offer, fly teenagers around on private jets, and flex in such a way that would make a man who has purchased a seaplane blush. But can you get kids wearing your goods?
