Despite working full time as a general contractor, Skip McCullough has found more than enough time to become an authority on knee-weakening orbs around the planet. “When I started building fences and decks, the hardest part was just time management and saying no to projects. When it’s time to surf, I don’t hold back on my spending. Boards, lodging, night life, travel expenses. Big stack equals big fun for me.”

Reporting live from the first long period swell to hit Indonesia, Skip gives us his betonline.ag picks for the upcoming Surf City El Salvador Pro — an event which looks to benefit from the same storm system which bludgeoned Tahiti just last week.

As Paul Evans writes, in our upcoming El Sal preview:

“Our friend from NZ via Tahiti arrives the 4th with a long, 18s pulse providing some juicey, if lully, warm-ups. Opening day Thurs 6th could be pretty solid, 6ft with light E winds (N is straight offshore), with similar stuff for Fri 7th, although a touch more onny (SE). With nothing below 4ft on the forecast, it looks like a case of picking the cleanest wind windows and avoiding those mixed up swell days that can fluff the lines.

Over the previous two years, we’ve seen roughly 3.5 CT heats run in “proper” Punta Roca surf — it seems that this number will be at least quadrupled in 2024. Praise be.
