The best air Gabriel Medina has ever done
Uh, what’s with this Hawaiian season? How can it get any better? First, we have the world title being decided at Pipeline for the first time in a fistful of years. Then a coupla days into his stay, Gabriel Medina pulls a backflip/Flynnstone flip. Then, at the first contest of the Vans Triple Crown, the Reef Hawaiian Pro, Dane Reynolds pastes the best turn ever seen in a jersey (or possibly ever done on a surfboard, actually). And then, Gabriel goes one even better on his previous air. Today at Off The Wall, the Brazilian hucked the flip you see here into the trade wind. He quickly posted on social media, “Just landed the best air of my life.” Which is saying something, considering some of the spins we’ve seen him stomp in competition, let alone freesurfing. So, what comes next this season? Where’s north from here? All photos by Joli
