Surfer Drowns On The Gold Coast
Joshua Dixon. Photo supplied (Gold Coast Bulletin) Yesterday Police on the Gold Coast located the body of surfer Joshua Dixon near Jumpinpin (the channel between North and South Stradbroke Island.) The search for Mr Dixon had started on the morning of the 31st December, after a fisherman watched Joshua duck under a wave at The Spit on the northern end of the Gold Coast, and not come up. Joshua had apparently jumped off the end of the sand pumping jetty at The Spit, to the disbelief of the fisherman who described the conditions as, “huge, choppy surf,” according to the Gold Coast Bulletin. Joshua was 34 and lived in Coomera on the north west end of the Gold Coast. Our thoughts go out to his friends and family. Rough conditions at The Spit on the day that Joshua went missing.
