The ninth edition of Stab High, already?

Damn. Time flies when you gather 50-odd surfers and encourage them to debate gravity.

If we learned anything from our past iterations, it’s that the energy of the event is amplified by an order of magnitude when you bolster it with a proper crowd.

Up until that point, live Stab High events had only gone down at Waco Surf and Shizunami Surf Stadium. Waco will always occupy a special place in our hearts, and we’re grateful to the crew who rolled into Shizuoka with us, but our sold-out event at URBNSURF Sydney felt like something else entirely.

October 11, 2025, was a cloudless day in Sydney. The springtime temperature touched 30 degrees, and Joel Vaughan touched his heelside rail to delight the crowd and sweep the field. Photo: Ryan Heywood

So, we thought, why not double down on surf-city-centric wavepools?

Which brings us to Atlantic Park Surf in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Like URBNSURF Sydney, it’s home to a 46-module WaveGarden Cove, so you can expect a similar ramp to the one that launched Joel Vaughan to a lien-flip victory last October. The main difference is that Atlantic Park Surf is just a stone’s throw from dozens of restaurants, pumping nightlife, and ocean waves — plus it’s heavily backed by Pharrell (yes, that Pharrell).

Though it may come as a surprise to our international audience, the VB surf scene runs deep. It’s home to the oldest continually-run surf competition in the world — the East Coast Surfing Championships (ECSC) — which has been handing out trophies for over 60 years. The city of about 450k people has reasonably fun waves and is only a brief drive away from the objectively superior surf of the Outer Banks.

We hope the whole East Coast turns up.

Need to know:

Dates: Stab High will run on Friday, May 15th and Saturday, May 16th, EST.

IRL: The event is open to the public. Stab Premium members get first dibs on tickets before we open them up to the rest of the world.

Online: There will be a live broadcast exclusively on Stab Premium.

Surfers: Stab High will host four divisions: Mens, Womens, Bottle Rockets, and Ladybirds. And, as always, someone will win the Monster Air.

Who, you ask, will be contending for these titles? Sure.

Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because you just won the Ladybirds division. Photo: Heywood

Ladybirds: Zoee Bradshaw, Zoey Kaina, Isla Hardy, Alani Morse.

Format-wise, it will be similar to Sydney, but as always, you can expect a few twists (full-ros, mostly). More info coming soon.

Tickets are now available for sale exclusively for Stab Premium members (members check your inboxes). They’ll be available to the general public soon.
