Shane Dorian, Donavon Frankenreiter, Salema Masekela and the Gudauskas trio are the latest co-founders of a surfer-owned booze biz, Revelshine. The brand, which sells wine products best enjoyed “off the beaten track”, targets the sporty-adventure market and recently expanded its distribution to over 500 retailers, including a notable presence in Sprouts Farmers Market, which has 384 locations U.S-wide.
They are members of 1% for the planet – an effective altruism movement not run by Sam Bankman-Fried whereby 1% of sales go to approved organizations that support people and the planet.
Revelshine’s head brewer and CEO is Jake Bilbro, a fourth generation winemaker celebrated in Wine Enthusiast’s Top 40 awards for innovation. Revelshine bases its operations out of Russian River Valley in Sonoma County, California and lists sports buffs from the climbing, skiing and snowboarding world as co-founder/ambassadors.

The company sells a red, white and rose product in slim, crushable eco-conscious aluminum bottles ‘15x lighter than glass’. The slim bottles are sleek and portable, perfect for enjoying off the beaten path or covertly before AA meetings.
Wine accounts for the second largest global market size (after beer) at $441.6 billion USD, according to Insider Monkey.
Revelshine follows surfer-owned booze companies: Saint Archer (Jack Freestone, Alana Blanchard, Josh Kerr, Taylor Knox, Laura Enever, Dusty Payne), Balter (Josh Kerr, Mick Fanning, Bede Durbridge, Joel Parkinson,) Honest Ale (Taj Burrow, Dino Adrian, Jay Davies), Solento Tequila (Taylor Knox), Hard Fizz (Paul Fisher, Nikki Van Dyjk, Laura Enever), Tolago Hard Seltzer (Ian Crane, Griffin Colapinto, Curren Caples), JuneShine (Nathan Florence, Albee Layer).
