Rounds three and four of the 2011 Hurley Pro, Lower Trestles

Two above-the-lip varials on day three of the Hurley Pro, Lower Trestles? The second of which, belonging to Jules Wilson, was complimented by a backside air-revs, then given a lower score than a fistful of frontside tags from Joel Parko. “Julian’s wave wave was sick,” Joel said. “I don’t know what to say about it though, I’m a purist.” And, Kelly Slater, 10x world champion, in an altercation with Brazilian Adriano De Souza? “Apparently Adriano was abusing Kelly in the water,” said a bystander. “They had words when Adriano had just won his heat. Kelly came in and was fuming and just wanted to smack him, but I’m not sure what happened after that. I think some officials had to step in and diffuse the situation.” Drama, drama, drama down there at Trestles.   “Jules is gonna try something fancy,” Luke Egan’s telling Joel Parkinson here. “But don’t get excited, just stick to your guns and you’ll get through this.” Photo: ASP/Kirstin Jadson Andre fell to Adriano De Souza in round three.
