It’s all in the hips. The absolute machine that is Mr Hamilton just announced he’s finally made his transition into becoming a bionic man! The tow-pioneer, hydrofoil riding, 52 year-old big wave guru has just gotten a hip replacement. Why is this news? Well, because Laird went through the whole process in a fashion that was bona fide Laird. First, the cat decided to stay awake and alert throughout a procedure where the use of anesthesia is common. Second, he had a camera crew from Dr Oz film it. If you’re not familiar with Dr Oz, he’s your grandma’s heart throb from day-time television… that guy who pushes diet pills like nobody’s biz.

Laird’s lived a radical life, no doubt… it’s no surprise that he needed a new hip. And surely he’ll be back in the water in no time. Noting in his Instagram post, that he’s “ready to jump into physical therapy”, in conjunction with a picture of him giving a thumbs up in a hospital bed #badass, #bionic. Which, you got to love, and in the meantime that Golfboard is going to come in handy.

Godspeed Mr Hamilton, with the new bionic hip and chiseled structure, water displacement is inevitable.
