“Those Rusty boards look shit, let’s get you on some Matty Mannerses,” Shaun Manners teased Jacob ‘Zeke’ Szekely on the Chapter11 IG Live feed of yesterday’s practice sessions, while sitting beside Harry Bryant in a Tokyo meat den.

In a gauche attempt to stir up more viewership for tomorrow’s Stab High Japan, we’re taking a page from Dana White’s playbook by highlighting a tempest in a Yeti mug between three otherwise friendly competitors.

This is less Kelly v Andy, more The Rock v Kevin Hart — but nonetheless entertaining.

“I’ll make you a bet,” the self-proclaimed ‘King of Waco’, Jacob Szekely, responded to Shaun’s board comment. “Whoever gets a higher score [in Stab High Japan], the loser has to use the other person’s board for a year straight…come on Shaun, you’re an elite freesurfer, I’m just a vlogger. Surely you can take me out.”

Over the last few days, Zeke has been practicing while Shaun and Haz have been on a cultural tour of Tokyo. Quite the divergence in pre-event warm-ups.
