Josh Kerr helps California College Surf Club program
Mountain Dew® have a thing called the California College Surf Club program. The soda enjoyed peak popularity after Wayne’s World, but have since cultivated a rep that, uh, isn’t great, thanks to some pesky issues like it being really fucking bad for you. But any non-endemic brand that backs surfing in a rather selfless way is rather ok. Last year, Mountain Dew® teamed up with Josh Kerr® Josh Kerr to launch the College Surf program, which at the time supported San Diego County college surf teams from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and Cal State University San Marcos (CSUSM). This year they’re expanding outta San Deigo, to support additional teams from University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB) and California State University Fullerton (CSUF). Kerrzy’s role? Support through interaction with the teams (on and off campus) with signings, screenings and sessions. “Last year’s program was a real success and I’m excited to expand this year beyond San Diego County to help continue the growth of the sport within additional college communities,” says Josh. Mountain Dew® will support UCSD, CSUSM, UCSB and CSUF by assisting with team dues, donating products and collab-creating custom team gear with Kerrzy and Rusty. Ain’t a thing wrong with nurturing a little passion for riding waves. Don’t forget why we all do this: Fun! Mexico, a little ways back. Photo: Damea Dorsey
