John Florence Flaring Out Over The Weekend On The North Shore
The World Champ giving the local sandbar a quick one-two jab.
The early season North Shore shenanigans have been low-pressure as of late; mostly just days on end of poppy, playful surf trickling down our feed. And it’s just enough for John Florence to slip out the backdoor unnoticed for a quick flick of the tail or rail gouge and keep everyone in California reeling with jealousy (although this weekend had its moments).
“The waves have been ok,” says photographer and filmer Tom Carey. “Very Northerly, so a lot of rights coming across the sand bars. Nothing to write home about, but it’s still fun to watch John surf. He looks so light on his feet it’s crazy. It’s like he’s riding the Silver Surfer’s disc or some shit.
I suspect we are going to have a lot of days like this coming up. So there will be probably a lot of ripping going on (and not a lot of tubes). Still, the place to be though.”
