John Florence Listed As Questionable For The Remainder Of The CT Season

“I’ll most likely make the decision in the next two days or so.”

Following his round three loss to Kolohe Andino in the Tokyo Olympics, John Florence claims to be unsure whether he will compete in the remaining CT events.

The hesitation stems from his knee injury in West Oz, which he has yet to recover from fully. John spent weeks leading up to the Olympics in an intense rehab regimen and surfed in Tokyo, despite his knee not being 100%. After his brief run in Tsurigasaki, Florence told Pablo Zanocchi (Duke Surf):

“Anything I can do for my long-term health I’m going to do. I’ll most likely make the decision in the next two days or so. The surgery I got was a repair and not a recovery so I’m within the timeframe that it’s pretty good to compete. But waves like Mexico and Tahiti are very powerful. With a healthy knee it’s risky so even if my knee is at 90 percent it’s a little more risk and I want to take all of that into account before I commit to those events.”

John says he will decide whether to finish out this season within the next couple of days. We’ll be clicking refresh on his Instagram profusely until then, along with the rest of the guys on tour.
