Harrison Roach Stars In A Johnny Depp Narrated Short For Dior
Tales of the Wild.
Things have changed. Prior this tender age of 2016, surf brands were wary of their team riders slip into the cold grip of high fashion. But today, as surf continues to slide into the strange and wondrous world of chic, it’s become the norm. Instead of pushing away, they embrace it. Nearly a decade back we did a shoot with Andy and Lyndie Dupuis (the now Lyndie Irons) in Coolangatta. As a result, Andy’s sponsors fumed red; they couldn’t fathom how we’d gotten him out of his branded attire, into a striped polo and tied a sweater around his neck, then track pants, assorted hats, fresh Nikes and a dapper suit. And even worse, how we had the audacity to publish it.
Recently, the French fashion extraordinaire, Dior, released a series entitled: Tales of the Wild by Sauvage. Narrated by Johnny Depp, directed by Clément Beauvais and Arthur de Kersauson and photographed by Woody Gooch. The first episode features Australia’s Harrison Roach.
What is Sauvage? By definition, it’s French for Savage. It’s also a fragrance by Dior.
But, here’s how the folks at Dior explain it:
What does being “Sauvage” mean today? Harrison Roach, Jakob von Plessen, Arthur Van Der Putten and Ethan Pringle; four inspiring characters who decided to radically change the course of their lives and reconnect with nature in four exceptional places of the world. From behind their camera, directors Clément Beauvais and Arthur de Kersauson capture the protagonists’ spiritual – almost mystical – relationship with their natural environment and tell their stories in Solace, Gaucho, Aizkolari and El Capitan.
