About the photographer: Paul Hoelen is a full-time professional photographer who has won 7x Tasmanian Landscape Photo of the Year awards, 4x Commercial Photo of the Year awards, 2x International Photo of the Year awards, and the distinction of Grand Master in Photography accredited by the AIPP. Paul was the South Island Bodyboarding champ in 1983 and is a current finalist in the World Photographic Cup. He has an aerial exhibition in Hobart starting next week and runs a YouTube channel called ‘Talking Landscape Photography’ where he does live interviews with photographers from around the world. Paul’s credentials speak volumes of his dedication and skill. Yet, beyond the glitz of awards, lies a man deeply rooted in the thrill of adventure, a local “boog” who, despite his years, has not let the flame of passion for bodyboarding and surfing dim.
“Days like this are rare in summer,” says Paul.
