Filmmaker Sonny Miller dies, age 54
News broke today that highly-respected surf filmmaker Sonny Miller has passed away, aged 54, after suffering a heart attack. His death comes just a week after the loss of his mother. Sonny was the visionary behind the best of Rip Curl’s films through the 90s like Searching For Tom Curren, Feral Kingdom, The Search and plenty more, before gifting his focus to surf cinematography for major Hollywood film work in the 2000s. He is undoubtedly one of the most well-regarded and successful surf filmmaker of his generation. Various surfers who knew Sonny, had worked with him in the past or had simply enjoyed his work, have taken to social media to mourn. RIP, Sonny.
