A large structure fire has decimated the Pukas Surfboard factory in San Sebastian, Spain. The fire reportedly broke out after 5:00 pm and thankfully nobody was injured in the blaze.

Details from the scene remain scant at this time, but the Pukas Surf Facebook page is reporting, “Good news is everyone is safe. The fire might have taken a big part of our work and hearts, but we are standing still and willing to grow. Pukas is surf and we will surf. Eskerrik asko.”

The fire appears to be out now, but firefighters battled for hours to contain it as it spread to a nearby industrial park. Four firefighters were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, but it’s not the first surfboard factory to go up in flames. Last December, Global Glassing in Oceanside, California, was also destroyed by fire

Besides producing boards under the Pukas label, the factory is also a production facility for Channel Islands and …Lost. The European surfing community is sure to feel the impact.

Stab will continue to update this story as more details become available.
