A Good Year – Part four

This time it ain’t all about what they saw. It’s about what they did. What was the craziest thing you did in 2010? Craig Anderson: I kept it pretty mellow this year. It’s not that crazy, but during that Castles trip I did with Jordy and everyone in South Africa, Taylor flew in from like, West Sahara and he had no camera gear, ’cause it all got lost. He landed at about 10pm and drove to Jordy’s house at J-Bay. Taylor was like, “What do we do? I don’t have a camera.” So we decided, on the spot, to drive to Cape Town, which is a 10-hour drive. So we left at 10pm and drove for 10 hours to Cape Town, ’cause that’s where Taylor could get a camera. It was a mission. I think I drove the second half… Trav (Logie) and I shared the driving, and Jordy just sat there, doing nothing… I drove from two in the morning ’till eight o’clock. I was delirious, ’cause the roads over there are pretty sketchy. So that was kinda crazy, I guess. Dion Agius: Four Months in NYC. Just so overwhelmed by the size and non-stop energy of that city. I didn’t surf, which was dumb because the waves get so fun there. But it just felt like you couldn’t experience everything there is in that place in a whole lifetime. Jay Davies: Probably having surgery on my ankle. That was the most nuts thing I’ve ever had to go through. I’ve never had surgery, I’ve never even really been in hospital before. To go through that, and rehab, it was kinda just… yeah, it was an ordeal. It was probably the craziest thing that’s ever happened in my life, having to get slit open and have cameras put in me, people taking bits and pieces out of my ankle. Ozzie Wright: I’m not crazy anymore… I rode a unicorn on the beach! And I hung out and played ukulele with an orangutan in Bali. It’s name was Effie. Wade Goodall: Well I didn’t do anything life-threatening this year. I think surfing in the river with Laurie and that at Yamba. That was something I’ve always wanted to do but never had the opportunity. I finally got to do it and that was like, a pretty sick thing to do. You watch anyone doing anything like that and all you wanna do is go and do it too. Friends have been showing me footage of that for years now, and I’ve always wanted to do it. Dave Rastovich: No Idea, sorry. How about you, readers? What’s the craziest thing you did in 2010?
