Leo Fioravanti Signs With 153-Year-Old Traction Company
The CT just became a little more F1.
The relationship between Pirelli and Ferrari dates back to the origins of the Prancing Horse automotive manufacturer in 1947.
A man named Leonardo Fioravanti has designed over a dozen Ferraris since his mid-20s.
Another man, born almost 60 years later and also named Leonardo Fioravanti, happens to be very skilled at surfing.

The chances that the Leonardo Fioravanti we are more familiar with designs a Ferrari are extremely low, but this week’s news suggests that we’ve seen stranger things happen.
Leo has partnered with the Italian tire maker Pirelli to make traction pads. Pirelli is highly experienced in safety and traction on both roads and tracks, aided by their rubber compounds. Their unmistakable slogan is “Power is Nothing Without Control,” which is fair to assume is something that crosses a CT surfer’s mind during introspective, sleepless nights.
Leo is now a brand ambassador for Pirelli, and his underfoot sensibilities, combined with Pirelli’s 150+ years of making shoes for cars, will undoubtedly translate into a quality traction pad.
These will be sold exclusively through Bell surf stores, which played an instrumental role in this 100% Italian collaboration. The pads will be available in the next few months.
