Is Billabong’s New Graphene Rubber Actually Any Good?

A sincere review from Stab’s Best Wetsuits of 2019-2020.

For such an established wetsuit brand, Billabong has been taking huge marketing swings in the past year, releasing both a build-your-own wetsuit feature on their site and infusing their 2019 line with a Nobel Prize-winning super-fiber: graphene.

Like you, we’d read the brochure and seen the promotional material, but the question remained: was this graphene stuff actually any good?

The only option was to test it ourselves. Armed with Billabong’s Furnace Ultra 3/2 and Furnace Carbon 4/3, we took to the frigid waters of Santa Cruz and sampled this Nobel Prize-winning fiber’s warmth and comfort capacities. (Spoiler: the 3/2 even qualified for our ice bath challenge.)
