Whenever Daniel “Tomo” Thomson’s name comes up, his relationship with Kelly Slater, Firewire, etc. controls the narrative. 

But for anyone familiar with the second-generation Australian designer and shaper before his partnership with KS, they’ll think of his work with Richard Kenvin and his Simmons-inspired theories of Hydrodynamic Planing Hulls. Or, more obscure, his appearance as a child in the Far North Coast in …Lost’s 5’5 19 1/4 as his (now-infamous) dad, Mark, George Greenough, and Tom Curren design a hatchet-finned double-ender that TC ripped at funky Boulders.
