Big String Is Gonna Be PISSED About This

Leashbar is the best thing to happen to surf hardware since fins.

Some people take the stairs to the top, others take the elevator.

In one fell swoop Leashbar just stormed atop the ranking for best hardware product of 2024. Why? Because it’s genius. As the great British polymath Bertrand Russell once posed in his theory of Explanatory Virtues, for an idea to be particularly strong or compelling they must be:

  • Simple – easy to understand ideas are preferable to more complex ones
  • Coherent – mustn’t clash with well-supported beliefs
  • Precise – an idea should target a well-defined area
  • Have scope – account for a wide range of phenomena
  • Fertile – they should open up space for thinking and innovation
  • Conservative – they do not discard with pre-existing things that are good

I’d say Leashbar ticks off most boxes in that criteria. So what the heck is it?

Per their press release, ‘Leashbar is a revolutionary leg rope plug that allows the rail saver of a leash to be mounted directly to the surfboard. Designed and developed by surfboard shaper, manufacturer, and repairer of almost 30 years, Dylan Perese, LEASHBAR sets a new standard in legrope functionality… No strings attached.’

A wonderful pun, I’ll add.

As surfers, one of the most annoying things you can experience is searching for a bit of rope when the waves are cooking to no avail. With Leashbar you don’t have to do cadets (so you can learn to tie a proper knot), you’ll never tear your tail again (from the string ripping through the PU), your leggie won’t twist and tangle ‘cos the swivel tech actually works, and your leashes actually become stronger (scientifically-verified) due to not relying on a flakey middle man.

Best of all though, it was invented by a legendary shaper from Wollongong Dylan Perese, who has just launched his line in partnership with JS Industries

“There’s no denying how good it is” said Jason Stevenson. “It’s the little things that count. I put it straight in my [personal] boards… it just makes sense to me.”

Kick yourself for not thinking of it first here.
