And The Most Comfortable Wetsuit Of 2019 Goes To…
Can a brand founded in 1952 really be making the most high-tech rubber today?
Founded by the inventor of the wetsuit himself, Mr. Jack O’Neill, this Santa Cruz brand is surfing’s first and most iconic neoprene manufacturer. Legacy aside, we wanted to know if O’Neill, a company founded in 1952, could really make the most high-tech wetsuits in 2019.
The answer came swiftly and without a shadow of a doubt. From the second we slipped into their historic neoprene, it became apparent that O’Neill wetsuits were absurdly stretchy and comfortable.
Specifically, we’re talking about their Hyperfreak Comp suit, which we tested as a 4/3—it felt like a 2-mil. The neoprene equivalent of lululemon. In it, we moved like a ninja.
There was no competition.
This was, far and away, the most stretchy and comfortable suit of 2019, just as it was in 2018. It even won our silly golf swing test (see here).
Watch above as we sample the O’Neill Psycho Tech 3/2 and Hyperfreak Comp 4/3 in their home waters, then scroll below to witness their languid majesty in thousands of pixels.
