Tyler Wright, Sandlyfe, Bells Beach

Tyler Wright, pictured here pulling into a closeout shorebreak, is into the Rip Curl Pro, Bells Beach final with Carissa Moore. It’s her third consecutive final (outta three events this year) and her second consecutive with Carissa (she lost to Riss in Margaret River). “Tomorrow’s my third straight Final this year, it’s my birthday and it’s Easter so yeah, it’s going to be a big day if we run,” said Tyler. “Look, Bells is an event I’ve been watching since I was a kid. It’s prestige is second to none and we have waves on tap. I’m just really excited for tomorrow.” Ryan Miller, who photographed this, offers an observation from the beach: “We all know the chicks can get after it on the open face. Bells might be the event where they shine most. I was watching the girls go loony on this inside section at Bells today. That inside section at high tide is straight into the sand every time. Steph had a crazy floater onto inches of water. Here is Tyler packing a close out in the inside section. Look at how close the beach is here! She came up rolling in the sand. So rad!” The mens are running right now, with the possibility of the womens final some time today. Watch it all here.
