Though the wind ain’t perfect, and the rains have hammered through intermittently, there’s been some epic moments at Teahupo’o this morning. Like this thing y’see, pictured above. Highlights have been two waves, both surfed by Brazilians – Raoni Monteiro and (rookie) Alejo Muniz. Raoni pumped through an absolute beast of a thing for the event’s first (but definitely not last) 10-point ride, and Alejo was spat out of a different kinda monster for a 9.60. Round two, as of writing, is close to finishing, with the possibility of a few round three heats being run. See Martin Potter there, in the bottom left hand corner? See the look on his face? That, “COAR, see that one?” kinda look? It says it all, huh.
