Taj Burrow’s nomadic lifestyle is one to be envious of. Sure, he fell to Matty Wilkinson by 0.40 points in round three of the Rip Curl Search, San Francisco. But he then jumped a flight from LA and, 13 hours later, was straight into a stupidly-fun, summery Maroubra beachie.

“It was so rippable out there,” he said. “The wind was puffing into it and it was good being out of the chill of San Fran. It was sick fun.” And after your Stab correspondent told Taj the shots were cool? “Good shots?” he asked. “You sure? An air reverse is like a floater on tour nowadays. Unless you do an air where it feels like you’re so high you’re gonna break your legs, no one takes much notice.”
