There are many aspects to this photo that put it at the top of Stab’s recent faves. The fluro wetsuit is not always a winner but here, on a gloomy day at the Sydney punt playground of Whale Beach wedge, it’s a welcome injection of colour. Add the wetty to the intricate board art neatly exposed by a big ol’ double grab (Y’see! There is room for double grabs in surfing. How else would we get a good look at Ozzie’s art if he wasn’t holding the canvas perfectly still and at a perfect angle? It’s the truest definition of performance art, if I’m not mistaken. That guy with the hooks in him ain’t got shit on this), plus the fact it’s the don of good-times surfing himself, Ozzie Wright and you have yourself a killer image.
