Y’been digging the Volcom Fiji Pro today? We’re gonna assume that’s a Yes. While it ain’t at picturesque Cloudbreak, windblown Restaurants does offer some welcome variety. The general consensus from post-heat interviews has been that it ain’t particularly easy out there, but when you get a good one, they’re real good. There’s been some big upsets (Adriano’s gone, and so is Gabriel) and since round one saw so many unexpected loses from high seeds, round two is absolutely stacked.
Nat Young, pictured here in a bizarre but somehow completely arresting moment of suspension, lost to Jeremy Flores in one of the two remaining round one heats held this morning. If we reach the end of round two, then we’ll see Nat surf again in the last heat against Filipe Toledo.
