Sequence: Mikey Wright Goes From Slice to Slide In Southwest France
You may have seen this turn in the latest Quiksilver clip, but a cut of this magnitude deserves a second look.
Over the last couple weeks in France, Mikey Wright compiled a highlight reel that was either colder than ice or hotter than fish grease, depending on how you see it. The focal point were his airs — loftier and more carefree than any two-story drop should be — but we’d be remiss to ignore Mikey’s gargantuan turns.
As a Wright, long lean muscle runs in Mikey’s genes, but there’s something about his on-wave attitude that gives Mikey’s carves an advantage over those of Owen or Tyler. This slice in particular, which starts on rail and ends with a cheeky fin-and-foot release, goes to show just how hard Mikey is pushing, and just how little he cares about falling.
Allow this sequence to inspire those who may encounter a steep section over the next few days. Push a little harder than usual. Maybe even let the fins slide. In short, be like Mike.
