Mick Fanning, a fierce moment on a small wave, Gold Coast

After a well-deserved and very relaxing stint in Koh Samui, Thailand with his gal, the current world champ, Mick Fanning, just swooped back into the Gold Coast. And after hanging by a pool, which was undoubtedly pleasant, reckon Mick was keen to get back in an ocean with some movement? “It wasn’t the best conditions,” says our photographer, Azad Sellars. “But late in the arvo Mick graced us with his presence and at just about the same time, the light went perfect for about 20 minutes.” Which is when this tailwhip was planted. Yeah, it’s a small wave, but that’s reality. And despite that fact, Mick syphons magic outta even the most slim face.
