Makua Rothman and Kala Alexander, Sunset Beach, Hawaii

Yesterday, the first real swell of the Hawaiian winter hit. While a whole lotta focus was on Jaws, which was big and kinda perfect, Sunset Beach was also firing, and two of Stab‘s favourite surfers were deep in the mix. Makua Rothman, above, hit Sunset in the morning before heading out to Jaws for the afternoon paddle session. Kala Alexander, pictured below, dominated the Sunset session with both his paddle board and red step-up. These two men, both Hawaiian royalty and some of the best big wave surfers you’ll likely find, were never gonna miss a day like this.
